About Crazyhouse
How Crazyhouse works
Crazyhouse is standard chess with one addition borrowed from Shogi: every piece you capture changes colour and goes into your reserve. On any later turn you may drop a reserve piece onto an empty square instead of moving.
Pawns cannot be dropped on the first or last rank, promoted pawns revert to pawns when captured, and drops may give check or checkmate. Because material never leaves the game, king safety matters far more than in ordinary chess.
Tips for new players
Count the reserves, not just the board — a knight in hand next to an exposed king is often worth more than a rook on the board. Avoid opening lines toward your own king, and remember that a single sacrifice can be followed by a drop that renews the attack.
