About Fog of War chess
How Fog of War works
Each side sees only the squares its own pieces occupy or could legally move to. Enemy pieces outside that vision are hidden, and you may walk into check without knowing it — the game allows it, and it can be fatal. Captures reveal information and are the main way to scout.
Long-range pieces double as sensors: a rook on an open file sees the whole file. Probing moves that gain vision without committing material are the core skill, and patience beats aggression more often than in ordinary chess.
