About Horde chess
How Horde works
White has 36 pawns and no king; Black has the standard set. White wins by checkmating the black king, Black wins by capturing every white pawn and any pieces they promote into. White pawns on the first two ranks may advance two squares, and promotion works normally.
The horde must advance in connected waves so that a single capture does not open a hole, while Black looks for exchanges that dissolve the pawn mass — a queen sacrifice that removes several pawns is often correct.
